When you race in Formula one you must be fast in speed and in reaction ….just like our spiral cords

Formed from the ashes of the plucky Minardi team, Toro Rosso were established in 2006 as a squad in which young drivers from Red Bull’s prodigious talent pool could cut their teeth in Grand Prix racing.

Fast and flexible

In the tuning of a formula one car every small detail is important even an electric spiral cord. We decided to use a Polyurethane outer jacket when we have been asked to supply with a short lead time some spiral cords for the F1 racing team. Polyurethane (PUR) is one of the best suited materials for jackets for cables with high demands concerning chemical and mechanical resistance. But in this case also the resistance to fast extension and retraction in few seconds was a key factor

Endurance

In order to improve the mechanical performance of the spiral cord an internal not woven tape has been added on top of the insulation compound helping to reduce the friction inside the cable during the extension and retraction process. For this application the cables need to be quite flexible since it connects the sensor for diagnosis of the status of the F1 car and few seconds later is released.

We reached the very first supply the required flexibility. Flexible and robust: best of both worlds and ready for the racing team with a brilliant future ahead.
